Société Générale a fêté en 2012 les 50 ans de SGBS (Sénégal) et de SGBCI (Côte d’Ivoire), et fêtera les 50 ans de SGBC (Cameroun) en 2013. Ces 3 filiales historiques de Société Générale en Afrique subsaharienne, berceau de son réseau de Banque de Détail à l’International, sont aujourd’hui des acteurs bancaires leaders sur leurs marchés respectifs.
Société Générale est également présente, par ce réseau, dans 9 autres pays de la région où elle a, là aussi, l’ambition d’être une banque au service du développement de l’économie locale : le Bénin, le Burkina Faso, le Congo, le Ghana, la Guinée, la Guinée équatoriale, Madagascar, la Mauritanie et le
Tchad.
La stratégie de Société Générale dans cette région s’inscrit dans la durée. Dans chacun de ces pays, Société Générale, s’appuyant sur le modèle de banque
universelle, se positionne comme une banque de premier plan, impliquée dans l’économie locale. La présence internationale du Groupe lui permet de
jouer un rôle moteur dans le développement de ces régions où les différentes filiales opèrent de façon à être des banques responsables et innovantes.
