Le Cameroun devrait très bientôt arriver sur le marché international des capitaux, qu’il sollicitera à hauteur de 1,5 milliard $. Dans un décret signé le 6 février, le président camerounais, Paul Biya, a habilité son ministre en charge des finances à signer avec les banques Standard Chartered Bank Standard Cameroun et Société Générale Paris , selon une lettre de mandat .
Cette décision présidentielle vient mettre un terme à celle, antérieure , qui habilitait Stanchart Cameroun à mobiliser 300 milliards de FCFA dans le cadre du financement du plan d’urgence triennal annoncé en fin d’année 2014. Elle vient aussi boucler le cycle de mobilisation des 1000 milliards qui avait été prévus pour le financement de ce plan.
Les fonds mobilisés serviront selon la volonté de M. Biya, à refinancer la Sonara, à construire routes de désenclavement, ainsi qu’à la mise en œuvre de plusieurs projets de développement, notamment dans le grand nord.
