Le groupe bancaire islamique Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG) basé au Bahreïn, a annoncé son intention de s’étendre en Afrique de l’Est, particulièrement au Kenya, en Ouganda et en Tanzanie.
Sur le continent, le groupe est déjà présent en Afrique du Sud, au Maroc, en Algérie, Tunisie, Égypte, Soudan ainsi qu’en Libye.
En plus du marché africain, Al Baraka Banking Group annonce un plan d’expansion en Asie de l’Est, où il compte une présence en Indonésie, à travers un bureau de représentation.
Al Baraka Banking Group a réalisé au premier trimestre 2019 un bénéfice net de 41millions de dollars, en baisse de 28% sur un an, suite à un ralentissement observé sur certains principaux marchés.
Le bilan consolidé du groupe s’est renforcé à 24 milliards de dollars sur la même periode, gagnant 1% par rapport à son niveau de décembre 2018.
ABG est présent dans 17 à travers le monde et est contrôlé par l’homme d’affaires saoudien Saleh Kamel (75%) et le reste est détenu par les investisseurs sur le Bahrain Stock Exchange et le Nasdaq de Dubaï. Le capital autorisé du groupe est de 2,5 milliards de dollars.
