African Alliance Insurance, basée au Nigeria, a réalisé un bénéfice avant impôt de 5,67 milliards de nairas (15,6 millions de dollars) pour l’exercice 2020. Cette performance contraste avec la contre-performance enregistrée en 2019 où la compagnie avait subi une perte de 7,04 milliards de nairas (17 millions de dollars), ce qui représente une augmentation de plus de 1300% en glissement annuel.
L’assureur a également augmenté sa base d’actifs de 29%, passant de plus de 40 milliards de nairas (96 millions de dollars) à 56,3 milliards de nairas (135 millions de dollars). Cette hausse est le résultat d’une injection substantielle de capital qui a donné à l’assureur un coup de pouce sur son résultat net à hauteur de 5,67 milliards de nairas par rapport à la position de perte de 2019.
La société a payé 8,16 milliards de nairas (19 millions de dollars) en sinistres, soit une réduction de 21% d’une année sur l’autre par rapport au chiffre de 10,4 milliards de nairas (25 millions de dollars) de l’année précédente. Pour le groupe, c’est le résultat d’un processus de souscription astucieux et de sélection des risques dynamique qui leur a permis de céder stratégiquement à des réassureurs.
A noter que les revenus de placements de la société ont également chuté de 19%, passant de 3,02 milliards de nairas (7,2 millions de dollars) à 2,46 milliards de nairas (5,9 millions de dollars), conséquence directe de la baisse des taux du marché, mais les dépenses d’exploitation de la société ont également diminué de 14% par mesure de contrepoids à la baisse des bénéfices.
