L’ancien ministre des Finances du Nigeria, Sonny Chu Okongwu, est décédé ce mercredi 12 janvier à l’âge de 87 ans.
D’abord ministre de la Planification nationale entre 1985 et 1986 avant de prendre en charge le portefeuille des Finances (de 1986 à 1990), Chu Okongwu a officié sous l’administration du général Ibrahim Babangida (de 1985 à 1993). Il a, par ailleurs, été ministre du Pétrole.
L’économiste était diplômé en théorie économique de l’Université de Boston (USA).
