Le groupe panafricain AXIAN, opérant dans cinq secteurs d’activités dont l’énergie et les télécoms, a annoncé l’admission de deux de ses dirigeants à des postes de leadership au sein d’initiatives internationales de développement durable. Amélie Yan-Gouiffes, Directrice Groupe Impact & Sustainability chez AXIAN, a été nommée Vice-Présidente du réseau régional océan Indien du Pacte Mondial des Nations Unies (UNGC), tandis que Hassanein Hiridjee, CEO du groupe, rejoint l’Advisory Council de l’Africa Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC).
Depuis son adhésion à l’UNGC en 2020, le groupe a renforcé son engagement envers les Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD). En intégrant ces instances de décision, il entend jouer un rôle moteur sur les trois piliers de l’agenda 2030 : Population, Planète et Prospérité (3P).

Le réseau régional océan Indien, qui fait partie des dix réseaux UNGC sur le continent, compte 49 entreprises membres (38 à Maurice, 9 à Madagascar et 2 aux Seychelles). AXIAN, membre fondateur du réseau, entend y renforcer ses actions à impact positif en redynamisant les connexions entre les différents réseaux UNGC sur le continent.
Comme le soulignent ses dirigeants, le groupe se distingue déjà sur ce terrain. AXIAN est le premier producteur d’énergie solaire à Madagascar, avec NEA Ambatolampy, la plus grande ferme solaire de l’océan Indien, dotée d’une capacité de 40 MW plus 5 MW de batterie. Cette centrale alimente déjà 100000 foyers en énergie propre. En outre, avec sa filiale WeLight, spécialisée dans l’électrification rurale en Afrique, l’entreprise active dans 15 pays africains est la première à Madagascar à être certifiée B-Corp, un label octroyé aux sociétés commerciales répondant à des exigences sociétales et environnementales, de gouvernance ainsi que de transparence envers le public.
Acteur de premier plan dans le secteur des télécoms en Afrique, AXIAN comptait en 2023, 38 millions de clients mobiles sur le continent et dans l’océan Indien. De plus, il possède le premier réseau du secteur bancaire à Madagascar avec 112 agences.
Ces efforts et réussites ont d’ailleurs valu à Hassanein Hiridjee, son CEO, la reconnaissance en tant que CEO de l’année 2022 par l’Africa CEO Forum, le forum annuel de référence pour le secteur privé africain.
Hiridjee, nouvellement membre du Conseil Consultatif de l’ABLC, entend influencer les objectifs stratégiques et les plans opérationnels de cette Coalition. Depuis son lancement en 2022, l’ABLC s’impose comme la voix unifiée du secteur privé en Afrique, abordant les défis clés du continent dans une dynamique de stimuler son progrès à l’échelle mondiale. Le mandat de trois ans, Hiridjee le place sous le signe du renforcement de la Coalition et de la promotion d’impacts tangibles à travers l’Afrique, notamment dans la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique et la promotion de l’égalité des genres.
